Superintendent's Update - February 14, 2022

Good Morning Washington Local,

There is good news this morning as we are experiencing a downward trend in positive COVID cases. The threshold was set at 50 positive cases and this is the second week we are below that number.

The Board of Education is meeting on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 for the Treasurer's Evaluation, but has decided to add a quick update at this meeting on COVID data to consider a change to a "mask-optional" protocol after Presidents' Day.

As a reminder, if you use Washington Local Transportation you will still be required to wear a mask until March 18, 2022, even if the district changes to a mask-optional protocol after Presidents' Day.

This is a short week as students will enjoy a four-day weekend. School is not in session on Friday, February 18th for Family Contact Time or Monday, February 21st in observance of Presidents' Day.

We are beginning to plan field trips and summer camps once again. Be sure to read your school's newsletter each week for updates.

Finally, we are feeling positive about the trends we are seeing, but please be assured we will remain vigilant about handwashing, social distancing, and other safety protocols. We want to continue to see our students experiencing the events they've missed over the past two years. Have a great week!
