KaSandra Spain, Associate Principal
The Assistance and Resource Center (ARC) at Whitmer High School is designed to support students in attending school on a regular basis and to foster positive behaviors that are “Safe, Responsible, and Respectful.” We assist parents with the annual PowerSchool returning student registration process and also assist students with parking passes.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent—which means missing 10 or more days over the course of an entire school year.
Research shows:
- By Jr. High, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for students at risk for dropping out of school.
- By 9th grade good attendance can predict graduation rates even better than 8th grade test scores.
My job as an educator is to assist students, parents, and teachers. If you have any questions that we in the Assistance and Resource Center can assist with, please call me at (419) 473-8206 or email me at
[email protected]. Our deans and secretaries are also available to assist with any concerns you may have.
