Whitmer NHS

Welcome to the John Wallace Whitmer Chapter of National Honor Society!
The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes outstanding student achievement in four areas: scholarship, character, leadership and service.

Based on a 3.39 grade point average, students are invited to apply for membership during their sophomore, junior and senior years, but must meet additional requirements before membership is extended.

NHS Prospective Members

In order to become a member of the Whitmer Chapter of National Honor Society, sophomore, junior and senior students must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Have at least a 3.39 grade point average.
  • Pass all required state tests.
  • Participated in extra-curricular activities. These activities can be affiliated with Washington Local or the Toledo Community.

All students meeting the grade point average requirements will receive an email from the advisors extending an invitation to complete an application for NHS membership.

NHS Current Members

In order to maintain membership in the Whitmer Chapter of National Honor Society, sophomores, juniors and seniors must do the following:
  • Maintain a 3.39 grade point average
  • Have no serious discipline concerns
  • Attend NHS activities and chapter community service, including Yard Fest, Community Halloween Party, and Junior Olympics.
  • Attend all NHS meetings
  • Pay yearly dues
    • Continuing members pay $35
  • Participate in the annual fundraiser(s)
  • Complete a minimum of 10 hours of service for each year of NHS membership consisting of 5 hours of Washington Local Service and 5 hours of extended family/neighbor/community service.
